Podcast Ep. 37: Compassionate Accountability Is How To Do Anything
Accountability can feel like a sting or a scary deadline for many of us. It started when we were kids when we didn't do our chores or our grades were less than ideal. This version of accountability doesn't encourage us to show up and BE, DO and Have - it tells us to hide, feel guilty and question our worth.
This doesn't allow growth which means your journey to become the boldest version of you will be limiting and stunted.
What if accountability was encouraging, exciting and joyful? I give you the necessary pieces to create compassionate accountability that actually WORKS for reaching your goals and boldly becoming you.
I reference Episode 33 4 Red Flag Words To Avoid To Be Your Truest Self so if you haven't listened to that yet - slide back a few episodes.

Podcast Ep. 30: Chinchilla-size Rats, Narcissism, and Turning Junk into Treasure
In this episode, I sit down with Keely Stawicki, a badass entrepreneur whose passion for turning "junk into treasure" led her down the path of entrepreneurship at an early age. From horses to vintage clothing, and soon launching her online business where she helps small business owners to become empowered in their businesses through Facebook advertising and digital marketing systems.
Podcast Ep. 29: Feedback Confused Us About Who We Are
Feedback is how we learn how to exist in the world.
Body language, facial expressions, tone, eye contact - there is so much information we receive as kids that tell us how to show up.
We all know the mom look when your kids are doing something they know they aren’t supposed to. It’s a warning that you will be reacting to their choice if they continue.
As kids, we learned to read what our parents were expecting and wanting from us.
Caregivers
Friends
Siblings
Learned about talking too much
Being too loud
Not being very funny
Creativity and imagination was either encouraged or dismantled via feedback
So part of the work we have to do to become the truest version of ourselves is to consider the feedback origin and look at what was decided for us because we were too young to trust ourselves over the people who took care of us.
This is not to demonize our parents or anyone else. Everyone gives feedback constantly - we are humans social creatures and communication is what we actually do most often.
My intention is 3 fold:
Recognize that what you “know” about yourself is often times filtered through other people’s experience of you way before this moment.
Understand that you can dig up the person you were born to be by tracking those stories to the origins and rewriting that feedback for your own healing and authentic self recovery
And that you are giving and receiving feedback every day all day right now.
- The things you think you are bad at or the things you feel the most protective of about yourself are the things you received feedback about at a crucial moment in your life. Someone said “no, that’s not okay here”. It’s time to stop habitually believing you aren’t good at something or that a certain piece of you is too much because one person or even a gaggle of people in your life didn’t know how to respond appropriately to that part of you.
- The great news is that the original you is underneath all that misdirected feedback. And more good news is that there are people who are craving those parts of you and are waiting to celebrate them in big ways. It’s just a matter of trusting yourself to play in that part of yourself and figuring out who your people are to enjoy it.
- One of the most powerful things to consider is how you are telling people in your life what and where it’s okay to be the truest versions of themselves.
- Partners
- Kids
- Friends
- Family
As always, I’m going to remind you to remove judgment from every layer of this process.
Especially in looking at where and how you have offered feedback to your kids.
I can see how when my daughter was a toddler I unintentionally gave her feedback about being too much. How I reacted to her big feelings and her outward expression of self taught her that she needed to tone it down, be less of that part of herself.
At first this was crushing. Now I am just doing the work to reverse that unspoken story I gave her and help her practice being her truest self being extra aware of the feedback I'm giving constantly.
There is a difference between filtering what you tell someone about themselves, being intentional about that interaction and then overly accommodating forgoing your own needs.
When you ask for what you need and own that your needs are yours alone, the other person isn’t told anything about their inherent value or traits.
You can put boundaries in place without criticizing or critiquing someone else.
It does take practice to do both so be easy on yourself while you navigate this part of your journey.
This idea of feedback has been so valuable in my efforts to be my truest self and also support others to do the same.
I’m excited to hear what you observe as you apply the idea of feedback to your past relationships, your current ones and what you will find in your truest self that has been hiding away unnecessarily for too long.

Podcast Ep. 24: Moved from the UK to an Island off of Africa
Jackie Lee found herself losing faith after being diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) in 1992 when she was told she'd be in a wheelchair and prescribed painkillers to numb her experience. She battled guilt and poured her energy into her mindset shifts and now lives in Lanzarote, which is on a Spanish island off the coast of Africa with the life, and man, she dreamed up for herself. In addition to being a well known wedding celebrant on the island, she is the fairy godmother to women age 45+ helping them to reconnect with themselves, to feel supported and safe whilst creating their best life and having fun.

** in this episode we discuss the ability to manifest what you desire and the life you are meant to live. Although this is true for many, this concept has not always been easily executed by those who exist in marginalized communities who are systemically oppressed or discriminated against based on race, religion, gender, ability, etc.
I recognize the white privilege filter used in many current spiritual and "achievement" based conversations, including my own in the past, and the problematic application of these ideas to “all” people when “all” people aren’t safe to walk outside their home, much less take bold and unapologetic action. When all people are treated with respect, this idea of manifesting and pursuing your dream with the steps we discuss, will be the magic for all that is has been for privileged white, and many but not all others, for hundreds of years in this country.**
Podcast Ep. 23: What is Intentional Parenting?
Regardless of how you became a parent, how you show up is completely up to you; this includes the mom and dad, as well as the bonus mom and bonus dad. And the weight you feel to do it right is warranted because how we parent does determine how our kids feel about themselves and what they believe they can do or achieve, at least initially. This sometimes translates into the desire to perfect our parenting approach, be the perfect mom or dad in every moment of our children’s lives but I want to propose a different option: Intentional parenting.

Podcast Ep. 19: The Science of Sleep
We wear lack of sleep as a badge of honor and proof that we are working harder than our peers to achieve more and reach epic levels of success. This is especially true in the world of entrepreneurship but also in parenthood and other areas of adulting.
We have heard news reports, read articles and listened to the gurus talk about how important sleep is but why?
What actually happens when you sleep that is so important? If I can run on 4-6 hours of sleep with a little (or a lot) of help from caffeine, what's the big deal?
In this episode, I give you the skinny on what's happening in your body now while you trade sleep for "productivity" and the sneaky truth of long-term sleep deprivation.

Podcast Ep 17: Science of Stress during Change and Transition
It's not a mystery why so many of us are experiencing extreme stress over the last few months. While we try to keep our heads above water with remote work, remote learning for our kids and the herding of all the cats in our lives, our bodies are working overtime to make every day happen.
Prolonged stress - chronic stress - has major health implications. We hear this all the time, right? But what does that mean? What's going on in your body every time you have to make a new decision? Every time life throws another curveball? Why does it feel like I'm running from a bear on some days?
In this episode, we dig into what is going on in your body while you are answering a million and one questions every day AND the 3 simple things you can do to protect yourself, and your family.

Often we try a supplement because we hear it will help us...sleep, lose weight, have more energy, get fewer headaches, etc. And we try it and ...no relief.
In this episode, I will tell you WHY your efforts with supplements haven't worked and I geek out on THE most important mineral we have in our bodies that is responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions. I was drastically deficient in this one (spoiler - you are too).

Podcast Ep 14: She Navigated Racism Through Medical School and as a Practicing Doctor Part 1
Dr. Gwen Williams knew at 4 years old she would be a doctor. She was raised by first-generation immigrant parents who empowered her confidence by living the example of making the world a better place, to be kind, to have compassion and self-aware.
Having grown up in NYC, she was used to all flavors of diversity and was exposed to the historic truths of race in America by intentional community leaders. During medical school she was corrected by fellow non-white students to "behave" and she began to see a different side of the world she didn't anticipate.
Her story is compelling, her optimism is contagious and her perspective is invaluable which is why this conversation has been split into Part 1 and Part 2. Enjoy Part 1 today.
Follow her journey:
Podcast Ep 13: The Human Body and Your Health
What if we stopped addressing our health concerns about weight, strength, stress and sleep from the outside and actually got to the root of the problem...for free?

In this episode, you hear a story of incredible resilience and also gain human body education that will be life-changing.
You can find Dr. Wild on his website.
Podcast Ep 11: Boundaries, Codependency, and Interdependency in Partnership
Boundaries and codependency have a weird stigma in the world of social media meme culture and have been watered down, thus ineffectively used in the effort of supporting healthy and connected relationships of all kinds.
I see dozens of posts regularly in the "relationships" category on all platforms about using boundaries when you find yourself in a "toxic" relationship. We will cover how ridiculous the term "toxic relationships" is in another episode but today we are pulling back the veil on the terms boundaries, codependency and INTERdependence (not the same as independence).
What they actually mean, the clarity on how to identify the tendencies (and not get distracted by the label)...and the truth about rewiring those habits that are inhibiting you from becoming the truest version of yourself.
Podcast Ep 10: Chronic Illnesses, an Eating Disorder and Chronic Pain to Joy and the Journey to Self
Jenn Dragonette shares her story of unaddressed chronic pain, an undiagnosed eating disorder, her addiction to being busy and how her journey began at 3 when she performed Reiki on her grandfather.
After chasing fad diets and being prescribed medications for 20+ years, she worked with a functional medical doctor and acupuncturist, and discovered intuitive eating.
She launched her podcast Feed Your Body With Love this past spring and you can follow her on her incredible journey on her website.
Podcast Ep 9: Communication and Conflict in Partnership
Communication is the vehicle to connection and it's essential to use effective communication in our partnership relationships. Knowing how to talk about what you need, what's bothering you and how to receive the same from your partner requires practice and an unlearning and reframing of rules you brought with you into your relationship. In this episode, I'll offer some questions to consider, share some of the challenges I have to work through in my partnership and the number 1 tip I got from a therapist that REALLY made it so much easier to have effective communication.

Check out their journey, alpacas and goats included, on YouTube and Instagram.

Now she is grateful for the lessons she learns as her life journey twists and turns and helps others realize their dreams as well.

Partnerships are complex, multi-layered and can be an incredible part of your support system to become the boldest and truest you. But there are likely some factors you haven’t considered that could be delaying your deeper connection or cutting it off completely. Today’s conversation will offer some insight into where to start digging around so you can close those gaps.
Podcast Ep 4: Undiagnosed Until 36
After 36 years of undiagnosed autism, including challenges in work, relationships and health, Becca Lory Hector found the missing piece to explain why she experienced the world differently. Over the last 8 years, Becca has become a dynamic autism advocate, consultant, speaker, and author.
You can see the work she does, and connect with her close-knit community on her website.

Podcast Ep 3: Emotional Rules
We all learned and adopted rules about how, when and what emotions are acceptable to have, express and acknowledge. These rules have limited your ability to connect with the people in your life but most importantly with your inner wisdom and alignment. In this episode, I walk you through the questions you can ask yourself to continue the journey of Boldly Becoming You.

Boldly Becoming You is a podcast now!
Aaaaahhhh! I'm so nervous and excited and fighting the urge to tell everyone that I am very aware of my amateur, just getting started, beginner's status.
Isn't it funny we do that? When I am doing something new and there is an audience of any kind, whether it's my husband or kids or the social media audience, I find myself nonchalantly apologizing for not being an expert. It's that old perfectionism stuff that comes up - the "I am only valuable and loved when I am doing things perfectly."
So I'm resisting this to some degree, at least to the level I would have. The 5 years ago me, hell, the 8 months ago me, would have overexplained the recording quality, the graphics, the sound of my voice and probably a dozen other things I shouldn't be embarrassed about because I freaking took on a new, big, kinda scary thing. I'm not a pro...yet.
I wasn't an expert 20 years ago on relationships, on self-awareness, on human behavior...on myself. But I kept showing up and pushed forward to create momentum for myself and I hope you will listen and subscribe to the Boldly Becoming You Podcast so you can also.
