Now that you’ve practiced regulating your nervous system you’re hopefully feeling a little less twitchy and a little more calm - even if just a little bit.

That dysregulation is the thing that is causing your survival mode coping mechanisms to kick in…

âś…people pleasing

âś…procrastination

âś…being super picky and rigid

âś…being hyper productive

…even your harsh inner critic telling you that you never do anything right and that you should be more reliable, more supportive, work harder, etc. - all survival mode from a dysregulated nervous system.

That is why Nervous System Regulation (NSR) combined with our first Essential Pivot: Compassionate Curiosity (CC)  is such a powerful combination.

Compassionate Curiosity is a practice and a philosophy that gets to the heart of what really challenges every people-pleasing, hyper independent, procrastinating, perfectionist.

In short - Compassionate Curiosity is the method we use to untangle the decades of deprioritizing, self demoting, dismissive behavior (aka people pleasing) you have grown to come to expect from yourself.

What you want and need has been pushed to the side so many times that you don’t even know what it is anymore.

And sure, maybe you “know” you want a 3 week vacation in the Maldives, but how is that going to help you today?

What do you want and need today that is going to make your life easier, happier, healthier, more productive, more aligned and more supported?

It was a hard question for each of us at the beginning of our burnout healing journey and for every one of our clients.

When you practice this method of intentional, daily self reflection over time, you start to see themes you didn’t notice before.

When you apply Compassionate Curiosity
you learn about, and appreciate, yourself and your needs in a new way.

You’ll start to see parts of yourself that you forgot were in there or just didn’t know you had because they have been buried by years of perfectionism and survival.

This is about not abandoning yourself anymore - about making you the main character of your life again…or maybe for the very first time.

This video and accompanying worksheet will help you understand where and when your anxiety is at its highest, what you actually want rather than what you’re “supposed” to want, and what you truly need day-to-day that you aren’t getting.

We know you’ll love it.

Ps. This one only works if you are doing it intentionally. Follow the worksheet and practice a little boundary work while you’re at it - let the people you share space with know that you’ll need some alone time during this…not much, just on purpose.

PPS. If you feel energized by this work and you don’t want to do it alone, take a look at our R&R Village membership community. We dedicate an entire semester to COMPASSIONATE CURIOSITY + everyone there is working on this too, so you’ll be in good company
